A few weeks ago my husband informed me that we would be taking a vacation this summer. I say informed because after our last vacation I swore we would never take a family vacation again.
Let's just say that there was not an even distribution of "free time". My husband drove two days to and from our destination (I flew on my frequent flier miles with three children under the age of five). Please note - my United States Air Force Veteran husband is afraid of flying. He then spent a week going off with my brother-in-law golfing, fishing, and general trouble making. The boys and I spent a week exploring, hiking, playing, swimming, and visiting with the rest of the family. I was not very happy with his definition of a "family vacation".
So anyway, he came home with a stack of resort brochures and said "pick one". I dug through the stack and found a place with children's programs, a spa, swimming pools, and a golf course. He then informed me he wanted a more rustic place (I grew up in the country way off the beaten path.... vacationing in the woods is not a new experience for me). We went back and forth negotiating and found a place with its own cabin (2-years old), kids programs three days a week, and just down the road from a spa. Then he told me his best friends family would be joining us.
And then he told me I could buy a new summer wardrobe since I have been complaining that nothing fits me anymore (I've dropped 30 lbs since last summer!!) I've been given carte blanche to stock up on clothing that actually fits and I will be spending the day scouring the web for some stylin' summer fashions....
Let's see what we can find...
